[Tam's Diary]

The end of the year/start of a new one is a strange and stressful time for many of us, but as a musician it can be especially fraught, as we compare our achiements to our boastful round-up posts and anxiously scan end of year lists.

This environment feels inherently uncreative, instilling a fear in me that makes me hesitant to dive into making something new again. So I've decided I don't want to be a part of it this year.

I won't be listing a scroll of achievements and bona fides. Instead I want to celebrate one thing - that I made and produced and entire album, singing for the first time in my musical career, and released it this year - Fizzy!, an album about a digital world that collectively people are sensing has gone off the rails.

I know I can be proud of forging a unique sound that moves people, whether or not Fizzy! receives commercial success or lofty praise in end of year round ups. I'm lucky to have had some encouraging mentions from esteemed music publications this year. However in 2026 I'm aiming not to care about what they say, good or bad. I'm going to find my own power, get composing, and keep making music that defines our present for the future.

Lots of love,

Tam
